Hi everyone! Today, I’m excited to share my experience at the JW Marriott Muscat and the delicious (and not-so-delicious) dishes I tried during my visit. From tortilla chips with dips to popcorn shrimp and chicken satay, I had quite the food adventure. Let’s dive in!
Tortilla Chips with Salsa, Tzatziki, and Hummus:
I started with the tortilla chips served with salsa, tzatziki, and hummus. Unfortunately, this dish was a bit of a letdown. The chips looked nice when they arrived, but they felt soft instead of crunchy. When I took a bite, they tasted stale, like they had been sitting out for too long.
The dips didn’t help much either. The salsa was okay but lacked excitement, and the hummus was the strangest part-it was really cold, almost like it had just come out of the freezer. The texture was stiff instead of smooth and creamy. The tzatziki was slightly better, but overall, the dish didn’t meet my expectations. For a big hotel like JW Marriott, I expected fresher and tastier food.
Rating: 2/10 Overall, it wasn’t great. We even had to ask for a redo because it just wasn’t good.

Popcorn Shrimp:
Next up was the popcorn shrimp, and wow, what a difference! The shrimp arrived in a golden, crispy pile that looked super appetizing. Each piece was warm, crunchy, and smelled amazing. When I took a bite, the crispy coating was perfectly crunchy, and the shrimp inside was soft, juicy, and fresh.
The flavor was fantastic, slightly tangy with a hint of spice that made it exciting without being overwhelming. The seasoning was spot-on, and every bite was packed with flavor. This dish was so good that I couldn’t stop reaching for more. Compared to the tortilla chips, the popcorn shrimp was a total winner!
Rating: 9/10 Delicious, fresh, and flavorful, though it might be a little too spicy for some people.

Chicken Satay with Pita Bread and Greek Salad:
Finally, I tried the chicken satay, served with warm pita bread and a fresh Greek salad. This dish was absolutely amazing! The chicken skewers had beautiful grill marks and a slight char on the edges, giving them a smoky flavor. The chicken was juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned - not too spicy, but definitely not bland.
The pita bread was soft, warm, and easy to fold, making it the perfect companion to the chicken. The Greek salad was super refreshing, especially on a hot day. The cucumbers and tomatoes were crisp and fresh, and the light dressing added just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the vegetables. It was the perfect balance of flavors and textures.
Rating: 9.5/10 SO GOOD! This was the best dish of the day!
