GET YOUR TASTEBUDS READY AND LET'S DIG INTO THE MINI SANDWICHES

Cucumber sandwich:
The cucumber sandwich was honestly the best choice. It was made on dark brown bread and had super thin slices of cucumber inside. It sounds simple, but it was actually amazing. The cucumber was really cold and crisp, and there was just enough cream cheese stuff or perhaps crème fraîche?) to hold it all together without getting messy. It tasted exquisitely fresh, like something you’d want to eat on a sunny day in a garden. If I could’ve asked for just a whole plate of those, I would have.

Egg sandwich:
The egg sandwich looked really nice with the little chopped bits of egg, but it had too much mayonnaise or was it crème fraîche. It made the whole sandwich too squishy and soft, and I couldn’t really taste the egg, as all I could taste was the creamy stuff. I wish they used less so I could actually taste the egg more.

Salmon sandwich:
The salmon sandwich had a cool green-colored bread and looked really fancy, but it had the same issue as the egg sandwich. There was so much creamy filling that it dominated everything. I think it had dill in it, which is always adds a nice flavor, but instead it got lost in all the rich texture. It didn’t taste terrible — it just felt too heavy and made it hard to taste the salmon on its own.

Cheese sandwich:
The cheese sandwich was the one I was most curious about, but it ended up being kind of disappointing. The bread was fine, and it looked like there was maybe a layer of something grilled inside, but the cheese didn’t have much flavor. It wasn’t sharp or gooey or exciting — just kind of plain. I kept waiting for it to have more flavor, but it did not happen.

Savory Tart:
The savory tart was tiny but totally delightful—like a perfect little jewel on the plate. The pastry shell was buttery yet crisp, with just the right crumble when bitten into. Inside, the filling was cool and creamy, with a hint of herby tang that made it feel healthy and fresh, not heavy at all. The cherry tomatoes on top—one red and one golden—were juicy and sweet, like they had just been picked from a garden, and the sliver of green pepper added a tiny kick of brightness and freshness. Honestly, it was so good I wish I had a whole tray of them. One just wasn’t enough!

I would rate the overall sandwich selection at The Savoy 8/10. 🥪
